Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how The Tiny Book of Being Human collects and uses your personal data when you visit www.thetinybookofbeinghuman.com, sign up for a free guide or a waitlist, buy one of our guides or receive our emails. We collect as little as we need, and we never sell your data.

What we collect and why
When you sign up for a free guide or a waitlist
We collect your email address and, if you choose to answer it, your reply to the optional question on our waitlist page. We also store the date and time of your sign-up and the IP address it came from, so we can show that you gave permission. We use your email address to send you what you asked for and practical emails from The Tiny Book of Being Human, including offers for our guides. We use answers to the optional question to understand what our readers struggle with and to improve our guides.
Legal basis: your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw it at any time by clicking “unsubscribe” at the bottom of any email, or by emailing us.
When you buy a guide
Our guides are sold through Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the merchant of record: legally, Lemon Squeezy is the seller of your order, and it handles payment, invoicing and sales tax. Lemon Squeezy collects your name, email address, country and payment details. We never see your full card or bank details. We receive your name, email address, country and what you bought, so we can deliver your guide, help you with questions and handle refunds.
Legal basis: performing our agreement with you (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR), and our legal obligation to keep financial records (Article 6(1)(c) GDPR). Lemon Squeezy also processes your data under its own privacy policy, which you can read at checkout.
When you read our emails
Our email platform records whether an email was delivered, opened or clicked. We use this to see which emails are useful, to stop sending email to addresses that never open it, and to keep our emails out of spam folders. Buyers are removed from sales emails for a product they already own.
Legal basis: our legitimate interest in sending relevant email and keeping our list healthy (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
When you visit the website
We use Plausible Analytics to count visits and see where visitors come from. Plausible uses no cookies and collects no personal data. It does not identify you or follow you across other websites.
Advertising cookies (only with your permission)
If you click “Accept” in our cookie banner, we load the Meta Pixel. It tells Meta (Facebook and Instagram) that someone visited a page, signed up or started or completed a purchase, so we can measure our ads and show them to people who are likely to find them useful. The Meta Pixel places cookies called _fbp and _fbc. Meta may combine this with information it already holds about you, under its own privacy policy.
Legal basis: your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). If you click “Decline”, the Meta Pixel does not load. You can change your choice at any time with Cookie settings, also at the bottom of every page.
When you email us
If you write to us, we use your email address and message to answer you. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in replying to your question (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Who we share your data with
We only share data with services that help us run this website, our emails and our shop. Each of them may only use it on our instructions or, for Lemon Squeezy and Meta, under their own privacy policies as explained above:
- MailerLite (UAB MailerLite, Lithuania, EU): sends our emails and stores our subscriber list.
- Lemon Squeezy (a Stripe company, United States): our merchant of record, which handles orders, payments, invoices and sales tax.
- Plausible Analytics (Estonia, EU): anonymous visitor statistics.
- Our hosting provider: delivers the website to your browser.
- Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd.: only if you accept advertising cookies.
- Our accountant: financial records, where the law requires it.
Some of these companies may process data outside the European Economic Area, for example in the United States. When that happens, the transfer is protected by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or by the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
We never sell or rent your personal data.
How long we keep your data
- Your email address: until you unsubscribe. After that, we keep only what we need to make sure we never email you again.
- Addresses that have not opened any of our emails for 12 months may be removed from our list.
- Proof of your consent: for as long as we email you, and up to two years after you unsubscribe.
- Order and invoice details: seven years, because Dutch tax law requires it.
- Emails you send us: up to two years after our last contact.
Your rights
You have the right to see the personal data we hold about you, to correct it, to have it deleted, to limit how we use it, to object to how we use it, and to receive a copy in a common format. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. This does not affect anything we did before you withdrew it.
To use any of these rights, email info@thetinybookofbeinghuman.com. We reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, please tell us first. You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority. In the Netherlands, that is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl). You can also contact the authority in the country where you live.
Security
We protect your data with secure connections (HTTPS), strong passwords and two-factor authentication on the accounts that hold it.
Children
Our website, guides and emails are meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has signed up, email us and we will delete their details.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when our services change. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change matters to you, we will tell you by email.
